Plankton of the Sorpe Reservoir

Here you can find a representative collection of the microscopical plankton images which were taken between 2000 and 2005 at the Ecological Field Station YH Lake Sorpe. More recent pictures will follow soon. Please use the index for navigation. To avoid tedious data transfer the images are scaled to 480 x 359 Pixel. The original data can be purchased on CD at the station's store.
The directory "quicktime" contains some short videos. They can be played with the VLC media player or the Quicktime Player.
The file name of the eldest pictures consists only of numbers, the images have been taken with a video camera with TV resolution. All pictures, whose file name begins with "DCSN", have been photographed with a Nikon Coolpix 995 on a Biolam, a Leitz Dialux or a Motic SH45 microscope. The resolution of the original pictures is 2048 x 1536 px.
We can not guarantee the correctness of every determination. There are a lot of taxa which are difficult to discriminate by light microscope.
The pictures are published refering to the Creative Commons License V.3. When using these photos the name of the bearer of copyright (Ökol. Station in der JH Sorpesee) has to be mentioned.
